Job Description:
India Post has released a notification for the recruitment of 21,413 Gramin Dak Sevaks (GDS) across various positions such as Branch Postmaster (BPM), Assistant Branch Postmaster (ABPM), and Dak Sevaks in different offices under the Department of Posts.


Total Vacancies: 21,413 (Across India)


Vacancies in Kerala: 1,385


Job Positions & Responsibilities:

  1. Branch Postmaster (BPM)
    • Oversee day-to-day postal operations at Branch Post Offices (B.O) and India Post Payments Bank (IPPB).
    • Market and promote postal products and services.
    • Ensure the smooth functioning of the office, including mail conveyance and delivery.
    • Perform the duties of an ABPM when needed.
    • Accommodation for the Branch Post Office will be provided after selection.
  2. Assistant Branch Postmaster (ABPM)
    • Handle the sale of stamps/stationery, mail delivery, and IPPB transactions.
    • Assist BPM in postal operations.
    • Market and promote postal products and services.
    • Perform BPM duties when required.
    • Must reside within the delivery jurisdiction of the Post Office.
  3. Dak Sevaks
    • Handle sale of stamps/stationery, mail delivery, and IPPB transactions.
    • Work in sorting offices of Railway Mail Service (RMS).
    • Assist Postmasters/Sub Postmasters in postal operations.
    • Must reside within the delivery jurisdiction of the Post Office.

Emoluments & Allowances:

  • BPM: ₹12,000 - ₹29,380
  • ABPM/Dak Sevak: ₹10,000 - ₹24,470
  • The salary is paid as Time Related Continuity Allowance (TRCA).

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Age Limit: 18 to 40 years (Relaxation for reserved categories)
  • Educational Qualification:
    • Must have passed 10th standard with Mathematics and English from a recognized board.
    • Must have studied the local language up to the 10th standard.
  • Other Qualifications:
    • Basic computer knowledge
    • Knowledge of cycling
    • Adequate means of livelihood
